To ensure that you are on the right track, remember these: (1) during the flowering stage, your plant will grow one and one-halffeet and (2) you must start the flowering process when the plants reach to within 24″ of the lights in their highest position. Depending on the strain, this can be somewhere from three weeks to eight weeks from starting with a clone. The trade secret to success in trying to grow marijuana is to find a source for clones. This shall ensure that your plant will be female and that it will survive (the most fragile stage in a plant life is the first two weeks). The great thing is that once you have a clone, you can make clones of your own and have a perpetual crop going year-round. Just like any other crop, marijuana needs advanced nutrients. Miracle Gro as well as other normal fertilizers will not work. Both Stealth Hydroponics and BC Northern Lights provide great advanced nutrient products. If you follow a rigorous schedule of draining and refilling the water every 2 weeks and adding nutrients as required, you definitely will succeed. Tap water, let set for about 10 minutes is more than perfect. Of course, give your plants that needed attention: control the pH level, CO2, temperature and humidity. Instead of obsessing about this, I’ve found the reality to be that marijuana is a weed….it takes quite a bit to kill it. One caution on nutrients, don’t add the first round until 2 weeks after you’ve started your clones in the vegetation stage. A final word regarding lighting. Lighting is crucial. You can make use of silver halide and other high tech lights, or you can use CFL fluorescent lights. They’ll all work just fine. The Flower Spectrum is set in the 2700 Kelvin range, Vegetation Spectrum, in the 6000 Kelvin range. Thus, it’s useful to take note of both spectrums; but of course, focus more on the one that matches the stage where your marijuana growth is at. Total time from clone to harvest when you grow marijuana is somewhere around twelve weeks. Yield is around 4-6 ounces per plant.

Mansfield Town have had a couple of disappointing seasons in League Two following their play off final defeat against Huddersfield Town at the end of the 2003/04 campaign. Peter Shirtliff’s side finished a lowly sixteenth last season and he has responded by shipping out eight of his underachieving squad.

One of the only bright points of an otherwise below par campaign was the emergence of Ritchie Barker as a 20 plus goal a season striker. The 31 year old forward netted 23 league and up goals last term following far less prolific stints at former clubs Rotherham United, Macclesfield Town, Brighton & Hove Albion and Sheffield Wednesday.

With so many players released, Shirtliff began the rebuilding process by recruiting Stockport County captain Matthew Hamshaw on a two year contract. Hamshaw spent 12 months at the Hatters following five years at Sheffield Wednesday where he was a first team regular. He made almost 90 appearances since making his debut in August 1998.

Shirtliff is also keen to run the rule over young Manchester City defender Paul Collins during pre season following his release from the City of Manchester Stadium. Collins was noticed playing in the same youth team as Jonathan D’Laryea who joined Mansfield for a nominal fee at the end of January.

Striker Chris Beardsley wants to repay the club’s faith in him after he was offered a new one-year deal after he missed nearly all of the 2005/06 season with an oblique fracture of his left leg.

Verdict

It is always difficult to predict how well a new team will fair but Mansfield will need to keep hold of Ritchie Barker following a prolific 2005/06 campaign. Better than sixteenth is expected but another mid table finish could be on the cards.

So how can you increase the chances of your press release actually making it to print? Follow these guidelines and more often than not, your press release will turn into a news story that gets you the free publicity you seek.

Trait #1 – Make sure the organization you belong to is very clear. Placing this information at the top is a good start.

Trait #2 – If your press release doesn’t contain news, you may as well not even send it. Promise news at the top with “NEWS RELEASE” in a larger font than the rest of the press release.

Trait #3 – One of the main traits of news is that it is current. Since you are offering news, make sure it is as current as possible.

Trait #4 – Get the name of the person you are sending your press release to and place it in a prominent position. Be sure to double check the spelling.

Trait #5 – Provide a specific contact person with a phone number where they can be reached. Don’t make contacting you a challenge.

Trait #19 – Is there an executive that matches the demographics of your target audience? If so, place them in your target audiences shoes to close the story with added trust.

Trait #20 – The notation “-30?- is the standard way of concluding a press release. Keep your press release to one page!

Trait #21 – Including photographs is a great way to gain more attention for your story. Make sure the photos you submit are easily reproducible and will hold their quality in both color and black and white.

Trait #22 – If you have other media you’d like to include or have available, be sure to provide the information here. The more peripheral media you have available, the easier it is to use your press release in a story.

The most important things to remember are to include a newsworthy angle that is of interest to the local community or specific readers of the publications you send your release to. Youth Basketball Fast Break Drills

A well-run fast break is one of basketball’s most thrilling plays. Most fans of the game love to see a fast-paced tempo with plenty of running and scoring. Strategically, the basketball fast break makes sense in the simple fact that the goal is to push the ball up the floor quickly and efficiently in order to have a numbers advantage over the other team. Either way you look at it, a well-executed fast break can be an important weapon for your team’s offensive arsenal.

You will often hear a coach use the phrase “no numbers.” Or he/she may instruct your team to run when “we have numbers.” These phrases simply identify if your team has more players than your opponent on a given play. For example, if your team rebounds your opponent’s miss and makes a quick outlet before your opponent transitions back to defense, you may have three of your players attacking two of your opponent’s. This is “having numbers.” When you have such an advantage, attacking your opponent for a quick score makes good sense.

Before you can consider transitioning quickly for a fast break opportunity you obviously first must have the ball. Sometimes a steal will result in a fast break score, but far more often your transition offense will begin with good defensive rebounding. Your youth basketball team cannot run if it does not rebound. Transversely, if you want to stop a good fast break basketball team, control the boards.

Once you have rebounded an opponent’s miss, a good outlet pass should be thrown to a guard. Usually you don’t want your post players dribbling up court. However, if the rebound comes to a guard or a forward that is a great dribbler, they can start the fast break on their own. Once the ball is passed out, it should be passed again or dribbled to the middle of the court. Available players should then “fill the lanes,” running along the side of the court. This gives the middle passer two options at the offensive end. The fourth player up the floor should trail the play and look for a late pass. The fifth player should hang back as a safety.

If your team has a numbers advantage, you should look to score. If not, it is usually better to bring the ball out and set up in your half court offensive set. Keep in mind that this aspect of the game is also referred to as transition offense or early offense.

Fast Break Tips for Basketball

You must secure the ball via a steal or a strong defensive rebound to start your fast break. Outlet the ball to a guard. Take the ball to the middle of the floor for maximum offensive options. When you are dribbling the ball in transition, do not stop until a defender makes you stop. If you can dribble all the way to the basket for a lay-up, do. Remember the ball travels up the floor faster by passing than by dribbling.

Basketball Fast Break Drills

Chase Drill

Make two lines under a basket. The players in one line will be trying to go full court for a layup. The players in the other line will try to stop the layup. The coach throws a ball slightly ahead of the offensive player. The defensive player cannot begin “chase” until the offensive player has touched the ball, giving them a slight head start. The chaser should be able to make up ground because they do not have to dribble the ball. The offensive player is trying to score without letting the chaser catch up. The players trade lines and continue.

Three on Two

Send two players to the far basket as defenders. Three players will remain near the opposing basket. The coach will then throw the ball off the glass and the team of three will rebound the ball, make an outlet pass, and fill the lanes on a fast break to the end where the two defenders wait. The goal is to make proper decisions with the ball and score with the numbers advantage. You can keep score and rotate players in whatever way works best with your team.
